A new Point Of Use Sequential Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) range with superior scald protection, along with water and energy-saving features, has been released by Enware Australia.
The Aquablend SQX is the first Australian designed, manufactured and Watermark certified thermostatic mixer range of its type to be released in Australia.
The Aquablend SQX incorporates enhanced thermostatic performance and is the next generation of product within Enware’s proven market leading Aquablend TMV range.
The Aquablend SQX Sequential Thermostatic Mixer precisely blends heated and cold water at the point of use to ensure a constant desired temperature – typically in a range from 38degC to 43.5degC at wash basins, showers and bathtubs to prevent scalding or user discomfort.
Hot water is typically stored in buildings at around 60 oC or above to remove a possible breeding ground for deadly Legionella bacteria. However, water at this temperature may scald if inadvertently released without mixing with cold water. Additionally it is well recognised that where heated water is stored or re-circulated within a building at temperatures below this, it presents an increased risk of high microbial counts (Legionella) thus posing further risk to the user.
“The recognition of this risk in areas such as hospitals has seen some dramatic changes in heated water system designs, especially in the closely aligned UK healthcare market. Point of Use thermostatic mixer applications are now recognised as best practice applications and incorporated into relevant Healthcare Codes in the UK in order to minimise the Legionella risk exposure of patients and healthcare professionals alike. Integrating the thermostatic mixer into a point of use mixer allows for the minimisation of Legionella risk because full temperature heated water is plumbed directly to the draw off fixture, thus eliminating warm water lines where Legionella may breed. The outcome is safer heated water delivery within the healthcare environment” Mr Fisher said.
The Aquablend SQX Sequential Thermostatic Mixer range includes a number of unique design features:
• Australian designed and manufactured
• Integrated sequential thermostatic cartridge
• Heat disinfection directly at the point of use
• Cool Touch technology minimising heat transfer to the outer surfaces of the mixer
• Water and energy efficiency, where only cold water is always initially drawn through the mixer, providing savings in heated water energy costs
• Ergonomically designed lever handles
• Self - draining spout technology
The Aquablend SQX Thermostatic range includes basin pillar taps, shower mixers and a wall-mounted surgeon set. The extended lever design provides easy control for people with disabilities and for surgical / clinical hand washing, with optional flow rates to meet the facility designers needs.
Aquablend SQX has notable environmental benefits, delivering both water and energy efficiencies beyond those found with traditional tapware and thermostatic mixer combinations.
Enware Australia’s Aquablend thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) deliver the world’s highest standard of performance and quality. Aquablend is certified to AS/NZS 4032.1 - 2005 providing Australia’s market leading compliant solution to meet the demands of AS/NZS 3500 for heated water temperature control.
