Combined overpack salvage drums meet top standards for handling hazardous materials
Combined overpack and salvage drums are being introduced by Enware that comply with some of the world’s most demanding packaging and environmental standards for handling, storage and transporting of hazardous materials.
The Enpac Poly-Overpack® 95 Salvage Drums from Enware’s Safe-Equip group securely contain a wide range of hazardous materials, including acids, corrosives and solids and liquids including damaged parts.
The 100 per cent UV protected polyethylene Poly-Overpack® 95 Salvage Drums are ideal for hazardous drum transport and storage, with the 208 litre (55 US gallon) containers moulded for easy gripping and picking up.
With a handling capacity of 292.5kg and a sump capacity of 361 litres, they meet the US’ stringent Group One packaging standards as well as US Department of Transport and UN regulations (inc UN 1H2/X295S, UN 1H2T/Y295/S and DUT 49 CFR 173.3 C).
Part of a wider range of Enpac spill containment, environmental and worker protection products from Safe-Equip, the Poly-Overpack® 95 Salvage Drums feature a patented twist-down lid for easy and safe closure without specialist tools. A closed cell gasket in the lid helps ensure tight sealing, while patented castellation in the lid permit easy closing using a simple pole for leverage. The lid’s double wall gives additional strength in this crucial area, while the container’s ribbed design reinforces the overall strength of the container’s body.
Moulded areas allow for easy gripping and picking up by standards materials handling equipment, including hoists, forklifts, drum trucks and drum lifters. Poly-Overpack® 95 Salvage Drums weigh only 21.6kg for easy handling and are nestable for compact storage, says the Managing Director of Enware Australia Pty Ltd, Mr Paul Degnan.
“Enpac designed the container so users can securely overpack a hazardous substance, ship and dispose of it all in the same container. This is one of the top selling products of a world leader in secondary containment and spill prevention products, and the most cost-effective, hardest working product in its field,” he said.
Poly-Overpack® 95 Salvage Drums combine the usefulness of both overpacks and salvage drums. Overpacks are used to provide protection for packages of solids or for convenience in handling a package or consolidating packages of solids. Salvage drums are used for the transport of damaged or leaking drums of hazardous liquids and hazardous materials that have spilled or leaked. Enpac’s ranges of secondary containment, spill prevention, mobile dispensing and industrial storage and transport products are distributed nationally by Enware (enware@enware.com.au). They are designed to reduce costs by increasing workplace safety and handling efficiencies while curtailing wastage.
Mr Degnan says the Enpac range is unique in Australasia because it brings together in one system a complete range of solutions to materials handling issues commonly arising across a broad spectrum of industrial applications. These include automotive, building, construction, electrical, food and beverage, government utility, laboratories, manufacturing, materials handling, mining and petroleum, process engineering, primary product processing and transport workshops.
