Enware’s Safe-Equip emergency response equipment provides flexibility, portability and ease of assembly

Managers today need to prepare for risks that their forefathers didn’t even have to think about. They must have emergency equipment in place to protect staff, guests and people for who they are responsible for from hazardous situations where fast, reliable and effective equipment can make all the difference. Chemical accidents, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, white powder incidents and biological hazard events are just some examples of situations that require immediate responses.

Attorney-General Philip Ruddock released a booklet at the start of 2007 to raise awareness about risk management in business for everything from fires to terrorism. This initiative highlighted the fact that risk management is becoming increasingly important not only for industrial plants but for surroundings ranging from schools, to outdoor venues, to businesses and hospitality venues.

Enware Australia, a leading manufacturer of Tapware and Safety Systems for Australia and South East Asia, has produced its Safe-Equip range of emergency response equipment for dealing with hazardous situations in a variety of different contexts.

“There’s no doubt that we live in uncertain times,” says Enware Australia Pty Ltd Managing Director Mr Paul Degnan. “In hazardous situations, experience has shown that initial responses and first aid treatments can make all the difference to casualties and personnel as events unfold.”

The Safe-Equip range includes products such as decontamination shelters, multipurpose shelters, first responder units, decontamination showers, contaminated water storage units, waste recovery drums, eye and body wash units, pumps and accessories.

The Safe-Equip products are designed to be flexible and can be used in a multitude of situations. For example, places where they might be used include:

  • Mining and petroleum refineries
  • Chemical manufacturing and handling facilities
  • Laboratories
  • Construction sites
  • Hospitals
  • Hotels and restaurants
  • Sporting venues
  • Schools
  • Airports
  • Public parks and shopping centres
  • Concert venues
  • Anywhere where masses of people tend to gather

Enware’s Safe-Equip range focuses on three main areas that make the equipment effective in any emergency situation: flexibility, portability and ease of assembly. Each of the products in the range is designed with these areas in mind. Some of the key products in the Safe-Equip range include:

  • The decontamination showers and shelters, which are used for improved personal safety from hazardous chemicals and fold into compact packages for easy transportation. They can be used in conjunction with the hand held eye and body wash units, which are used to irrigate highly inflamed body parts.
  • The first responder, which unit is ideal for first responder personnel and their equipment, and ensures containment of liquids that may be a threat to the environment. It is made in multiple sizes and models, has a heavy duty construction and can is able to withstand up to 115kph winds, making it very stable. This product is essential for any hazmat team.
  • The multipurpose shelter- a multi-use shelter, which has a double door airlock and is the most diverse product in the Safe-Equip range. The shelter is used as a portable triage and patient stabilisation system, a portable change room, communications station, staging point, morgue, and forensics facility. The multipurpose shelter provides solutions to problems ranging from police rescue units cleaning up motor vehicle accidents to animal welfare volunteers cleaning down oil soaked penguins.

“There are so many places where we need to be well prepared for emergencies and have the correct equipment available to us- places that each of us visits every day. Managers of such locations have a fundamental responsibility to be prepared for crises,” says Mr Degnan.

Enware’s Safe-Equip range easily exceeds the American Safety Standard ANSI Z 358.1 1998- the standard that currently covers safety deluge systems. The flexibility of the equipment also means that they can be used for smaller accidents as well as more dangerous situations.

“Enware has over 65 years experience in dealing with the challenges faced by emergency and rescue services. The Safe-Equip range can be selectively deployed to any crisis situation, no matter how large or small. Enware Australia also offers a comprehensive maintenance and training programme for people who may be exposed to such situations,” says Mr Degnan.
