The Chrome factory and the Environment?
The Chrome Factory is very environmentally conscious; all waste is processed and discharged under an EPA license. Also a Waterboard License is held for the discharge of treated water making it one of the most environmentally friendly facilities in NSW.
The Chrome Factory has now joined the environmental ranks, installing a new, state of the art water regeneration system that cleans and recycles waste water from the Chrome Plating Process.
With the help of Transpacific Waste, a treatment plant has been installed at the Chrome Factory, which will significantly reduce the amount of fresh water used during the plating process. Also, by creating a closed loop system, waste will be reduced to almost zero.
The new system works by channelling the contaminated water through a series of specialised, resin and carbon filters that extracts all the heavy metals and organic matter from the water. The clean water then recycled back into the production process is of a higher quality then the original supply from Sydney Water!
The water regeneration system, supplied and maintained by Transpacific Waste provides additional benefits for the environment by allowing the extraction of heavy metals through the regeneration of the filters. Transpacific is able to reuse these heavy metals and anything that cannot be recycled is put in stabilised landfill.
